Collins Aerospace 3rd generation helmet mostly uses for the 5th generation fighter jet pilot. The cool part is it added an additional set of eyes and greater field of view to the most advanced US fighter jet which allows the pilot to take critical decision faster.
Compared to previous generation stealth aircraft helmets, it's not just about protecting the pilot's head anymore, it's a fully integrated, high-tech system that dramatically enhances next generation fighter jets situational awareness and combat capabilities.
The helmet is made of carbon fiber to reduce weight and head protection against impact and wind blast during high-speed flight and ejection.
It has active matrix liquid crystal display, pupilometre to ensure exact vision, 3D scan to create custom fit, Ejection upto 600 knots with many more advanced features.
The Electro Optical Targeting System provides extended range detection, precision targeting against ground targets, and long-range detection of air-to-air threats. This Advanced Targeting System allows Pilot to lock the target just a blink of an eye direction. The helmet's tracking system knows exactly where the pilot is looking, enabling them to lock onto and designate targets simply by looking at them.
It uses Active Electronically Scanned Array Radar which is the most capable technological invention for military jets in the world. Long-range active and passive air-to-air and air-to-ground modes support a full range of missions.
Distributed Aperture System, Six infrared cameras mounted around the aircraft collect real-time imagery displayed in the helmet and create a 360-Degree Situational Awareness to the pilot.
