Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian condemned the attacks and said it showed how the “situation in Afghanistan is still complex and severe.”
He added that no Chinese casualties were reported and said the embassy in Kabul was warning Chinese nationals to stay indoors and avoid the airport.
After the incident U.S forces on guard for Kabul are preparing for more Islamic State terrorist attacks, which may include the use of car bombs or the firing of rockets at the capital’s airport, as the evacuation effort in Afghanistan nears its Tuesday deadline.
